In recognition of the absence of an annual event that brings the youth of Africa together to discuss pertinent issues that affects the continent’s development, Youth Bridge Foundation in collaboration with the Ghana Centre for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana) initiated and organized the first ever African Youth and Governance Conference (AYG-Conference) on the International Youth Day, August 12-14 2009 at the Accra International Conference Centre in Accra, Ghana.  The Conference was supported by the Government of Ghana and UNFPA with contributions from REALIZING RIGHTS (USA), NEWMONT GHANA (Mining Company), Business and Financial Times (BFT), SKY Digital TV and KOMATSU.

Planned by Youth Bridge Foundation and as follow-up activity of AYG-Conference 2009 and a Pre AYG-Conference 2010 activity, the AFRICAN YOUTH AND GOVERNANCE CONFERENCE (AYG-CONFERENCE) ROADSHOW 2010 is an opportunity to advance the agenda of youth positive participation in Africa’s development and the building of stronger youth network for a common front. This shall be without any geographical, religious, ethnicity or gender limitation.

Target, Selection and Participation

Primary Target
  1. The Youth aged 18 to 35 years from all AU Member States
  2. Youthful members of parliament or ministers of AU Member States (not exceeding 35 years of age)
  3. Youth aged 18-35 of African origin in the Diaspora will be admitted

  4. Youth from other continents would be admitted as observers for purposes of experience sharing
