altWithin the context of the Participation and Empowerment pillar of  AYG-Conference , the Secretariat under the auspices of Youth Bridge Foundation commissioned a research to assess the level of awareness, knowledge and interest of the Ghanaian youth regarding national budget processes and economic policy statements of government. In particular, the study focused on the 2009 enacted budget and examined the extent of appreciation by the youth as regards its significance, the potential opportunities for their wellbeing and effective advocacy.

The survey was conducted in the two major cities in Ghana; Accra and Kumasi and sampled 260 respondents between the ages of 15 – 35yrs.   Respondents were culled from two main groups namely in-school youth and out-of-school youth. The report of the study will inform the Economic Literacy Project of the Foundation aimed at building the capacity of the youth to equip them with knowledge of the components of the budget and provisions for the youth in the 2010 National Budget Statement which was just presented to parliament.

But African countries need to lower their illiteracy gap in education, while at the same time, help promote ICT development and uses all over the territory. Thanks then to programmers and developers that initiate this project.
