The European Union Delegation to Ghana has supported Youth Bridge Foundation through the Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning to launch its Economic Literacy Project.
The 1st phase of the Project was a baseline survey conducted by the foundation to assess in general the level of awareness, knowledge and interest of the youth regarding national budgets and economic policy statements of government. The study identified clear gaps between dictionary budget definitions and the real understanding of national budget components among the Ghanaian youth.

The 2nd phase of the Project is YBF’s response to the baseline survey conducted. This comprises of two (2) Trainer of Trainees national workshops to be held for the Southern and Northern Zones of Ghana at Accra and Tamale respectively. The workshops are aimed at promoting awareness of the components of the national budget among the youth of Ghana and help them understand the implications of the national budget and the multi-donor support on their lifestyle and related development. The second part of the 2nd phase will monitor the trained youth to impart the knowledge they have acquired to members in their organizations and their platform as well. The Foundation will make available the relevant materials and resources for such training. This will ensure the achievement of a multiplier effect of the training. The final part of the second phase will witness the converging of the initially trained youth in the zones to make inputs into the 2011 national budget when the call is made. |
